UKIP Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the questions we are most frequently asked:

  • Question: Are you 'Obsessed' with Europe?
  • Answer: Unlike the EuroManics, no. We have simply realised that for true democracy to be returned to this country, we have to pull out of the E.U.
  • Question: Are you just 'stealing' votes from the Conservatives?
  • Answer: No. We are not an offshoot of the Tories but a party in our own right. People who vote UKIP are UKIP voters, not Lib Dem Tory Or Labour. Our appeal is right across the board, and a large part of our vote comes from the biggest party of all, the people who normally don't vote .
  • Question: Are you an 'extreme' right wing party?
  • Answer: If your viewpoint is from the socialist left or you have an agenda of presentation policy, (Like The Guardian) you may think so. Certain elements within the media want to project this image to deflect from any real debate. In reality we are very libertarian. (One of our policies is complete opposition to I.D. cards) .
  • Question: What are you plans for the future?
  • Answer: We are building from our success in the Euro and Local Elections, and the next stop is Westminster. Over time our aim is to win our first seats in Parliament, and build from there.
  • Question: Is it true you are just a 'single issue' party?
  • Answer: No. But if it were the only issue it would amount to over 70% of all the issues that govern us. Why? Because 70% of all our laws are now made in the E.U.! If anything it is the 3 older parties who are left with a mere 30% of the issues which they can make any decisions on, and even that is diminishing. We have a full manifesto on a range of policy issues which we wish to pursue through Westminster including of course, leaving the European Union. Our manifesto for 2005 can be read by going here.
  • At least £30 billion a year of our money goes to Brussels
  • Westminster will be redundant, although it may survive as pretence of democracy
  • E.U MEPs, Bureaucrats and their families, have life time immunity from prosecution.
  • Officers of Europol, are immune from criminal prosecution should they break the law while carrying out their activities.
  • The E.U. has 91 free trade agreements with other countries
  • The E.U. has the power to ban political parties of which it does not approve.
  • The E.U. has the power to ban religious sects of which it does not approve
  • The E.U. has over 250,000 bank accounts in over 40 countries, many of which are off-shore
  • E.U. law takes supremacy over British Law
  • The E.U. accounts have not been approved for more than 12 years. If this were a company, it would be closed down and the directors imprisoned
  • Under the constitution, England is to be broken up into nine regions implementing the laws of Brussels
  • "The day that the constitution enters into force all previous E.U. treaties will be dissolved; the Union will cease to be an association of states bound by international treaties, and become a state in its own right."
